This workshop introduces the essential materials, tools, and fabrication methods used in contemporary mosaic art. Designed for beginner and intermediate artists, it offers a fast-paced, interactive foundation in studio practice. You'll start with substrates - what they are, how they behave, and how to cut them to size, before moving into adhesives and when each is most effective.
Participants will experiment with widely available tesserae while learning safe, confident tool handling through live demonstrations and guided practice. Additional topics include interior and exterior considerations, installation methods, and finishing techniques. By day's end, you'll complete four small studies and be ready to continue your mosaic exploration.
Basic mosaic tools required with a list to follow. Your tutor will be in touch with you via email prior to the workshop with what to bring.
