Karen Singer is the owner and Artistic Director of Karen Singer Tileworks, Inc., specializing in site specific custom ceramic tile work for over 25 years.
She is known nationally for her murals for hospitals, universities, and other non-profits. She has a talent for finding and expressing hidden history and local culture in a way that expresses deep meaning for viewers and stakeholders.
Clients include: University of Pennsylvania, Doylestown Hospital, St. Mary’s University, Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, Friends Hospital, Wilmington Friends School, and Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, in Olney, MD.
Singer’s work has been featured in the Chronicle of Philanthropy, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and Advancing Philanthropy. Most recently she was featured on public television on Friday Arts, produced by WHYY-TV, Philadelphia.
In addition to her commission work, she teaches classes and workshops to students ranging in age from 5 to 95. She has coordinated collaborative mural projects in numerous schools and senior facilities, in addition to running workshops and classes in her Germantown, PA studio.
