Students are guided through the complete process of creating a 2-dimensional sugar skull mosaic. Our custom made substrates will be constructed from common building materials and include hanging device. Mosaic surface will be created using stained glass, glass tiles and found objects.

This class introduces participants to the ancient art of mosaics with a specifically contemporary focus; students will create a mosaic interpretation of a master painting using stained glass. From Byzantine altar pieces to impressionist classics to pop-art paintings, the Smithsonian museums and other area collections provide a vast resource of artworks for study and interpretation.
