Create a 2-D, Contemporary mixed-media mosaic artwork.
This is an opportunity to learn mosaic basics, experience a wide variety of mosaic materials, and enjoy the company of others in a bright and inspirational classroom studio space. Instructor provides everything you will need for your small home décor artwork.
Designs are your choosing; materials include ceramics, glass, beads, costume jewelry, bangles, and more. Works are made using the direct method of mosaic fabrication. Our adhesive is a thin-set mortar (concrete) tinted black.
A separate $50 supply fee is payable directly to the instructor at the start of class and includes tool loan, prepared 6″ x 6″ substrate, and a GENEROUS selection of mosaic and mixed media materials. 14+, all levels welcome.
Students are welcome to bring supplemental materials.
Mosaic experience is helpful, but not required; all skill levels are welcome. You MUST wear close toed shoes! We will be cutting materials and using thin-set mortar as our adhesive. If you have sensitive hand skin we recommend you wear latex gloves.
Students need to provide the following:
- Small containers (clear plastic cups, deli containers)
- Latex or rubber gloves (optional)
- Safety Glasses
- Scissors
- Small piece light weight cardboard
- Scotch tape
- Couple pieces of plain white paper (photo copier paper)
Recommended – optional and only if you own:
- Mosaic wheel Tool* the plates CAN NOT MOVE, LePonnit’s best***
- Tweezers (recommend amazon, search jewelry tweezers, pointed and delicate are best)
- Palette Knife (for mixing and spreading adhesive), metal better than plastic
