Virtual Tour: Mosaic and Architectural Treasures of Barcelona

New

About Instructor

Enjoy a lively pictorial tour of Barcelona’s most beautiful mosaic installations and unique architecture. Antonio Gaudi is often the first name associated with Barcelona’s distinct modernist architecture. Parc Güell , Basílica de la Sagrada Família and Casa Mia are all fantastic examples of Gaudi’s signature style. An equally important contributor to the Barcelona landscape is Catalan architect/artist Lluis Domènech i Montaner. Among his masterpieces is the amazing Palau de la Música. A music performance hall renowned for its distinctive and ornate style. In this webinar, you are treated to a collection of images never before seen of works by both of these genius artists.  Our guide, Bonnie Fitzgerald, documents her travels throughout Europe focusing on mosaic installations.

1 hour lecture with Q&A. Hosted on ZOOM format.

This presentation is part of the Speaker’s series being offered by Smithsonian Resident Artists and Studio Arts Department. Bonnie has traveled extensively in Europe and North America and the vast majority of photographs shared are from her most recent trip to Barcelona.
