Inter-active On-line Learning: small group mentoring
Workshop is via ZOOM platform. This workshop is for anyone looking for immediate mosaic inspiration, interactive dialogue and both creative and technical guidance.
We hosted over 100 students between April 2020 and May 2021! Many were new to me, an unexpected gift of Covid. Thank you. Humbling to say the least. Bonnie
The workshop goal is for you to progress on an individual project of your choosing, with the support of your classmates and formal instruction and guidance from Bonnie. There is no required supply list. Some mosaic experience required. Students provide all materials.
Students meet with instructor one-on-one prior to the first class for 30 minutes during which time you are guided to materials resources and recommendations, scaling your design, generally getting prepared to begin your project.
August 12, 26 and September 2, 6:30-8pm and a one-time bonus, optional “office hour”, August 19 6:30 – 7:30.
Space limited. Students work on own weeks in between Zoom meetings.
At our first meeting we will introduce ourselves and work through any technical challenges. There is a simple assignment prior to the first class, details upon registration. Every class meeting there will be a comprehensive lecture.
Weeks 2 and 3 meetings are approximately 1.5 hours total per meeting and will include:
- Review of previous week progress.
- Lecture, each week a different lecture, 15-20 minutes, tons of pretty pictures. Optional homework to reinforce weekly lectures.
- Sharing as appropriate the individual project you are working on.
Included in the workshop fee is any other guidance via email as you progress on your project throughout the course period.
SUBJECTS COVERED: Andamento and lay patterns, materials and substrate overview, historical perspective, design principles and basic color theory, precision cutting, fabrication methods, other tbd depending on what instructor determines most needed for the group.
WHAT STUDENTS ARE SAYING ABOUT ZOOM CLASSES WITH MAVERICK MOSAICS: “I so enjoyed the class! Our on-line discussions were really great. Helped me to see techniques, composition and subtleties I may not have appreciated. Your positive, learning vibe and that of the group was so welcoming and motivating. I appreciated the various levels of expertise. The class is a great place to experiment and try new things. I think the Zoom approach worked great”! – Karen S.
