The Cosmos: interpretations in glass mosaic
Friday, November 1, 2019, 10am-5pm, Saturday, November 2, 10am-4pm, and Sunday, November 3, 10am-noon.
Learn how to create your own mosaics using photographs of the cosmos as inspiration. All skill levels are invited. For experienced students you will find the techniques taught in the class are important skills to have in your arsenal.
Students are guided through the complete process of working in the direct method of mosaic making using stained glass, milleflori, fusions and other glass products. Instructor will provide a selection of images from the Hubble Telescope and NASA for students to select from.
Workshop fee includes properly prepared substrate, your selected image cropped and scaled to size, adhesive and grout. Artworks are for interior display and measure 12”x 12” or 11” x 14”. Although ATISG will loan tools, students encouraged to bring their own” glass scorer, running plier and good quality wheeled nipper.
Students will be responsible for providing their own stained glass. And our class will have access to the scrap bins at ATISG, yummy! Free.
This workshop is suited for anyone new to mosaics or folks wishing to take their work to a new level. Students can expect a great deal of personal instruction and guidance and no question will go unanswered!
If you wish to provide your own image please send to instructor 2 weeks in advance so image can be properly prepared for our purposes.
All levels welcome, stained glass cutting experience not required.
