Students of all skill levels find inspiration in both the ancient art of mosaics and the form’s international modern-day movement as they are guided through the process of creating a contemporary glass mosaic.
Instructor will guide students to master cutting techniques and embrace classical mosaic sensibilities, including the concept of andamento (the equalivant of the painter’s brushstroke in mosaic). Each week instructor will discuss some aspect of mosaic fabrication techniques, and feature works of a different well-known contemporary mosaic artists.

Experienced and returning students may provide their own materials and design if they prefer. Note we are stressing the use of glass tiles or stained glass in the workshop.
